In The City, still tonight…
My friendships’ footsteps fade
Into the realm of history
And all past plans we made
While walking on this storied way
Replacing footsteps tread--
Pedestrians from yesterday--
We’re welcomed in their stead.
Their spirits traveled here before
Our measurement of Time,
Their winter song it went unsung
For lack of words that rhyme--
A memory, a savoring
In the bleak midwinter
Echoing.
